Because of all that is going on in the world, many Christians believe that it is no longer possible to have the life that God promised us in His Word.But if we would dare to step out in faith and take Him at His Word, we can live in victory and success every day of our lives.

We need a “new” kind of faith for successful living today because we are continually bombarded with negative input from the world.Although we live in the world, we are not supposed to be of or like the world (Rom. 12:2 & John 17:16), but you can only operate in this kind of faith if you are in close fellowship with God.

This is what gives you that “extra” boost in unexpected situations.Even when caught off guard, you can prevail in the time of storm because you have been built up in the Word of God.

Practical Ways to Build Your Faith

If you have never really been into all of that “faith stuff,” here are a few simple things that you can do that will help you exercise and strengthen your faith muscle:

1. Pray Daily. (I Thes.5:17, Psa.1:1-3) – Try to pray at the same time each day.Experts say that anything done for 21 days in a row becomes a habit.Choose a place that is as free from distraction as possible and purpose to spend quality time with the Lord.
2. Read the Word of God daily. (II Tim. 2:15 & Jos. 1:8)Again, quality is more important here than quantity.Sometimes, you may just meditate on 1-2 verses, while at other times you may read a chapter or more.
3. Imitate the faith of your spiritual leaders and mentors. (See I Cor. 4:15,16 and Heb. 13:7) – Pay special attention to how they attend to the affairs of everyday life.You know people by the way they behave, by the kind of “fruit” that they produce.If they are producing good fruit (living right according to the Word), then consider their ways and follow them.Otherwise, seek out spiritual leaders whose faith you can follow.

There is no “formula” for faith, but you can have faith for your life if you would dare to believe the Word of God and keep on believing no matter what.

I use my faith everyday. I am blessed, but as the Senior Pastor of Christian Faith Center, the Superintendent of our academy (K-12) and mother to seven children, there is alwayssomething for me to pray about!

But that’s a good thing. Because I have so much responsibility, I must seek the Lord continually.Therefore, I am always building myself up in faith, so my faith level remains at a consistent and strong level.That is why I have success not only in my ministry, but in my personal life as well.I seek God for every area of my life.My faith is in Him and His ability, not in what I can do (Zechariah 4:6).

But if I were to get comfortable because “I’m blessed,” my faith would begin to weaken from lack of exercise.

Keep on believing As you agree with God, you will have what you say (Mark 11:22-26).
